Fulfilling Mitzvot through the Practice of Lovingkindness and Wisdom

Program facilitated by David Gilner

 Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 10am

In Leviticus 19:18, the Torah teaches "You shall love thy neighbor as thyself." Rabbi Akiva taught that this commandment "is the great general principle in the Torah." Akiva's contemporary, Ben Azzai, stressed the importance of each person realizing that all humanity was created in the image and likeness of the Divine; that experiencing this truth was the basis for fulfilling the commandment to love one's neighbor as oneself.

This morning, we will learn a practice that will help us to fulfill the fundamental commandment to love one's neighbor as one self, through techniques that facilitate the non-dual state of mind -- by taking action in loving kindness and compassion, and experiencing the inseparability of self and others.
